More integrations and standalone app

The Atlassian ecosystem is going through some major changes, and we are not staying behind. We want to offer continuous support to our users in their migration journey to new solutions. Hence, we are developing a migration support solution. Therefore, we will offer backup and restore options for Jira Server/DC and Cloud. With backup possibility, we also expand our family of tools to connect. We have already connected the BigPicture app with Trello team boards. We also want to connect Azure DevOps projects and Jira Server/DC instances. We also plan to connect with GitLab, Microsoft Planner, and Google Calendar.

But our most ambitious project is BigPicture. One – a standalone app without any host platform. The main goal of this app is to visualize the “big picture” of various tools and different management approaches, e.g., Hybrid, Classic, or Agile, in just one independent tool.

New Level of User Experience

Our first and foremost priority is user experience. We strive to even out the performance of modules containing large tasks and resources and shorten their loading time. Our next goal is to improve the performance of key functionalities, like scheduling and planning within modules. We want to make BigPicture even more transparent and user-friendly by enhancing sorting, filtering, grouping, and searching functionalities. Key operations will be amplified and multiplatformed for the data across the Box modules and other screens.

Secondly, we believe that functionality refers to accessibility. That’s why we are preparing a multi-language app interface containing a set of available translations and more. Users can customize or even create new translations, depending on their internal operational needs. Another feature is color-code automation. Owners of specific tasks and products will be able to automatically assign colors based on their rules for specific priorities, labels, or risks.

Take full control of your portfolio

The more information you can gather, the better. Raw data is not enough. That’s why we focus on better visualization by powering the Reports module. It will present data such as cross-team dependencies, predictability reports, velocity charts, work progress reports, or team availability reports, to name a few. This is just a beginning, as we aim to expand the range of report widgets successively.

The Overview module will also be adapted for greater flexibility by introducing configurable Column Views. You will create a customized Column View by removing unnecessary columns or selecting chosen columns that you can easily switch between. These Views will also be branded by newly implemented metrics, such as required skills or teams working on chosen tasks.

We plan to expand financial monitoring by adding new columns: Budget, Actual cost, and Estimated cost. The latter two can be automatically calculated based on tasks in the scope. Moreover, users can establish actual and estimated costs on the task level. This way, they can define the cost of a single task or deliverable. Also, users will have the possibility to calculate the task estimated or actual costs based on the resource cost.

BigPicture will adjust its focus on Objective Key Results (OKRs). Users will be able to break the objectives into initiatives or key results. The former allows breaking the biggest, most ambitious projects into smaller, more manageable, and transparent elements. The latter will improve the control over the progress with the help of generated, up-to-date charts.
