Candidate’s guide to joining SoftwarePlant

SoftwarePlant has come a long way: from two founding developers sitting in a 16 m2 room, to a strong team of over 70 skilled specialists working comfortably in our new, modern office space. Still, when it comes to hiring, we value quality over quantity. We know that our recruitment meetings are demanding and the bar is set up high. But we also try to make sure that the whole process is conducted efficiently, at a high level of merit and in a friendly atmosphere. Below you can find some guides, what to expect when applying to SoftwarePlant.

Who can apply to SoftwarePlant

Whether you’re already an experienced specialist looking for new challenges, or an ambitious newbie, there is a place for you in our team. But before you apply there are a few questions you should ask yourself:

  1. Am I a team player? Teamwork is one of our core values. We would not have been able to develop our company so quickly if it had not been for a strong culture of cooperation. We are looking for people who know that the work of each department is essential and we need to communicate with each other and work out compromises. 
  2. Am I passionate about my work? We work in agile methodology, focusing on performance and outcomes. We believe in continuous improvement. Therefore we organize plenty of training, workshops and regular hackathons. That is why we are looking for people who appreciate the fast pace of work, are open to continuous development, and enjoy overcoming challenges.
  3. Do I like new technologies? Cause at SoftwarePlant, we are all about innovations and developing our products by using the latest technological advancements. 

How to apply – 5 easy steps 

1. Send your CV

The easiest way to get in touch with us is through our career page. There, you will find all our current job openings. When applying, please remember to attach your CV with up-to-date contact details. If you’re a developer, then we also recommend adding a link to your Github or Bitbucket profile to help us get a better understanding of your skills. 

And if you don’t have any work experience, make sure to show us that you’re passionate about coding. Maybe you wrote an application for a school project? Or perhaps you won a contest or a hackathon? Let us know about your accomplishments, and we’ll be happy to discuss with you career opportunities at SoftwarePlant.  

Team Leaders verify all CV within three to five days of application. During the holiday season, it might take us a little longer, but we try our best to do it as soon as possible. If your application meets our requirements, you’ll be invited to the next stage of the process.

2. Recruitment task

Your CV and previous experience are important, but we also want to make sure that we’re on the same page when it comes to programming. That’s why, for selected positions, we might give you a coding task first. We usually ask to send us your answers in 4-5 days. 

When applying for IT support, sales, or marketing position, you might expect an English language proficiency audit in the form of a casual phone conversation. The call will take up to 30 minutes. 

3. Recruitment meeting

Interviews are usually conducted by the Team Leader from the team you’re applying to join. The meeting takes about 90 minutes to two hours. We’ll tell you about SoftwarePlant: our values, teams, and plans for the future. We’ll ask you about your previous professional experience, skills, and career goals. If you’re a developer, we’ll discuss and verify your technical skills. We might ask you to perform a task and write a code sample. Finally, we’ll discuss the details of our cooperation and answer all your questions.

Ask us as many questions as you like during the interview. We want to make sure that you have a good understanding of our company and the position your applying for.

4. Job offer

If everything goes well, we’ll call you with a job offer very quickly!

5. Onboarding

Welcome to the team! We’re always happy to meet and work with new people. We know that the first few days in a new place can be intimidating. That’s why from day one, you can count on the support of your assigned buddy. Your buddy will fill you in on all the details regarding our projects, and everyday work. But remember that everyone is always here to answer your questions and help you succeed in your role. At SoftwarePlant, we play as a team.
