The American Psychological Association is the world’s largest association of psychologists, with more than 117,500 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members. Their mission is to advance the creation, communication and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people’s lives. With such a great number of participants and ambitious goals, this project certainly is Enterprise-scale and needs proper tools to run smoothly.
Their PMs are responsible for quite a heavy load, as they strive to keep pace with an accelerated SDLC. The volume of requests has ramped up in recent years, but they are committed to maintaining the highest level of quality and accuracy. In order to keep up, they needed a tool that would allow them to have a drone’s eye view, both tree top and 30,000 ft! In a dynamic environment like APA, tracking tasks and resources is critical to accurate forecasting and project success. With their standard tool, PMs could not easily create, link, assign or drill down. To accomplish this, PMs were using a myriad of different tools which lead to resource bottlenecks and difficulty in collaboration.
BigPicture allows them to have a virtual PMO! It is intuitive, flexible and purpose built for teams spending a lot of time in JIRA software. With BigPicture, there is greater transparency between project stakeholders and collaborators. Schedules are set, resource planning is simplified, and bottlenecks are easier to identify when priorities change. The tool is used primarily by 4 Teams: Operations, Custom Applications, System Development, Business Liaison.
APA recently launched the official online version of the APA Style Guide. This now means that everyone from college students to published authors can get the credit they deserve when their work(s), whether online or in print, are referenced by other writers!
“Our project managers are asked to do a lot, but without the right tools they found it hard to be as agile as the teams they coordinate. With the BigPicture add-on integrated into JIRA software, our PMPs are gaining greater clarity and deeper insight into project timelines, risks, and resource bottlenecks than ever before.”
