BigPicture is evolving – check what’s new in 2018, 2019, 2020.

Think ‘strategic‘ and ‘more static‘ — than the Board. You do upfront planning here, and you fill in objectives manually, typically during a planning session. It’s a tool for medium- and high-level management and is more suitable for long-term planning.

The Roadmap is SAFe®-compatible. Note the ‘Program Increment’ level with its own objectives. Now, a project manager can drill a PI down to the the ‘Iteration’ level. You can set objectives here, too.

Jira BigPicture SAFe compliant roadmap

Roadmapping is, in other words, good planning, that is needed at every stage of running a project. It incorporates the element of time which prompts you to prioritize, carefully allocate resources and set realistic targets. It will reveal the gaps in your plans or areas which may become problematic once the project is underway.

Team members will see it as a guide and a communication tool but most importantly, thanks to the roadmap, they will gain a common understanding of ongoing activities and a sense of comradery.

Think operations and dynamic. The Board keeps in sync with Jira – to much greater extent than the Roadmap. The tool is suitable for lower- and middle-level management. Here you can set dependencies between tasks and act on them. The Backlog makes an integral part of the tool.

Roadmap BigPicture

Program Board was developed with Scaled Agile Framework methodology in mind. It’s a combined view of all the scrum boards with information concerning time periods.

Roadmap BigPicture

Not only does the Program Board make analysis and reporting easy but lets you quickly find pain points and act on them. The module shows the timeline with separate cadence row as well as backlog.

This component intuitively shows links between tasks and marks them red or green depending on whether the tasks were placed in the right timeframe or not.

Assemble teams to facilitate work in Program Board. Have a clear view of all talent on board and do not lose sight of who is doing what and when.

Scope does two things. At the initial stage of your project it’s the place to decompose work into manageable chunks. Once you are further into the project,  you’ll use ‘Scope’ for observing progress, especially if you work agile/kanban style, without the Gantt chart. More on Scope

Big Picture Scope, work breakdown structure component

The BigPicture suite contains the Gantt chart module which provides the exact same functionalities as our BigGantt add-on and is also integrated with other modules. Its versatility is reflected in the ability to use it for projects with cascading tasks workflow, integration with Agile sprints or portfolio view of projects.

Gantt allows you to operate on JIRA issues in a variety of ways, all on a single screen. Creating dependencies, changing the work breakdown structure or dates manipulation takes just a few clicks. The chart can also display cadences, which are time periods usually set up as Agile sprints, to identify tasks or to whom tasks can be assigned.

Gantt chart

This plugin is highly adaptable. It gives the user complete control over the data values, scope or permissions. In addition, it delivers powerful synchronization options to manage what will be synchronized between JIRA and BigPicture. This can be further customized by parent recalculation or adding tasks that are outside the scope of original options. Gantt module wouldn’t be complete without the ability to manage hierarchy of tasks. The Gantt structure can be easily sorted as desired in a matter of minutes.

Control data not directly on the chart but in the columns alongside gives a glimpse of data parameters values. These can be easily changed in the configuration to fit the needs of whoever is looking at it. Additionally, building your own quick filter is a quick, easy and convenient way to swiftly switch between scopes displayed on the chart.

Resources are almost always in limited supply for any project manager, thus tradeoffs are not uncommon.

Proper resource allocation in a form of accurate timing in which a resource is utilized becomes a crucial matter when faced with its scarcity. A project’s schedule typically changes on more than one occasion over the course of its life which requires flexible resource planning for necessary adjustments.

The Resource module of BigPicture allows quick and easy assignment of tasks to users and checks their allocation. Thanks to synchronization between Gantt chart and Resources there is no need to have to toggle between windows, as tasks can be rescheduled directly in the Resource window. The Resource and Gantt chart components are synchronized. Any change of task length or start or end date in the Resource window is mirrored in the Gantt chart.

Having a plan to follow through is not all there is to project management. It is inevitable to have to take the human factor into account. Let’s face it, people are not robots that can work twenty-four seven. They will take days off, work at less than full capacity and make mistakes. Managing this with BigPicture becomes a no hassle, drag&drop, effective routine.

Resources BigPicture

Too often, risk management is not part of project planning. It is a recipe for a disaster. People get sick or quit, resources run out, hardware breaks. Being able to identify, analyze and respond to an unexpected event is essential to the success of a strategy.

Risks BigPicture

Once a project is fully scheduled and tracked, with time, one will note that some tasks are of particular significance. Either because they are known for causing trouble or simply due to their high importance. One could note this on a sticky note or simply try to remember. It is best, however, to use the Risk matrix module of BigPicture to keep things tidy and usable.

The Risks component of BigPicture allows you to design a matrix that shows sensitive issues in visually. Set values to two custom fields inside a JIRA task to define both risk probability and risk consequence. This will trigger the task to be displayed on the matrix, making it quick and easy for anyone to grasp the level of risk involved.

Embrace BigPicture Enterprise as an enhanced, augmented and amplified complement to standard BigPicture. Most suitable for large-scale organizations, the Enterprise plugin on top of BigPicture meets the expectations of broad reaching and widely operating firms.

Organizations often run parallel projects requiring management of a portfolio comprising an array of teams and variety of goals with changing deadlines. Enhance BigPicture with the Enterprise plugin for benefits without limits.

BigPicture Enterprise is not a standalone plugin and is available only with an active instance of BigPicture plugin

Exclusive to Resources management module, the cross-program view eliminates the all too frequent problem of a project manager assigning tasks to a resource, not knowing that another PM has already done so in a different project. With Enterprise, you always know the actual, absolute capacity and allocation, no matter how convoluted the decision processes are.

With tens, hundreds, or an even greater number people taking part in projects delivering the competitive advantage, whether it’s by employing a new company-wide sales strategy or rebuilding existing processes, nothing should present itself as an obstacle. Benefit from unlimited number of holiday plans and workload plans assignable both to multiple resources simultaneously and each resource separately. Easily differentiate between full-time, part-time and irregular employees and change their status on the go.

Juggling multiple projects, often arranged within an intricate network of intertwining connections and relationships can easily get out of control. The Metrics module provides the ability to add your own custom fields. Neatly label all your projects to know everything about them at a glance. Market, phase, responsible team, budget, deadline, marketing, status, unit number and anything else. With neatly labeled custom fields, the Metrics component truly puts the ‘me’ into your projects.

A fully exclusive feature to integrate the list of programs with company intranet, external resources or other areas of JIRA. Creating and deleting them when needed is a breeze, so you can go ahead and create something exceeding the standard JIRA dashboard, all without leaving a single screen.
